Amanda Nunes vs Germaine de Randamie

You would be hard pressed to find anybody left in the MMA world that still believes that either Ronda Rousey or Cyborg Santos is the greatest female fighter of all time. That honor now belongs to Amanda Nunes thanks to her devastating first round KO’s of both of her former foes.

Another name that has been at the top of Women’s MMA is Germaine de Randamie. With victories over Raquel Pennington and Holly Holm, de Randamie has maintained her status as an elite level fighter. These two fighters have already squared off once back in 2013, with Nunes emerging as the victor.

On December 14th we will see if de Randamie has closed the gap that cost her the fight or if Nunes can continue her destruction of the elite in women’s MMA.

Max Holloway vs Alexander Volkanovski

Since Max Holloway started his run as the UFC Featherweight Champion, I don’t know if he has had a matchup as unfavorable for him as Alex Volkanovski.

It unanimously agreed that Volkanovski is the most physically strong featherweight on the UFC’s roster. I think this poses a unique challenge for Max as unlike previous opponents, Volkanovski is not going to try and strike with Max from the outside. Instead, he is going to try and make this a close quarters fight where he can use his strength to wear Max down. Of course this is easier said than done as Max is one of the best in MMA at keeping his opponents to the outside and picking them apart using his range.

As a fan, it will be fun to see who can impose their game plan better and walk away with the title.

Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington

Once you can get past Colby Covington’s often cringe worthy persona and just look at his body of work in the Octagon, you will quickly come the realization that he presents serious problems for any welterweight he faces.

With a striking output that is unparalleled mixed with a division 1 wrestling background, Covington can beat any Welterweight on any given night. However, the same could be said for his opponent and current Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

After a dominating performance against former champion Tyron Woodley, Usman showed that he has the potential to be the champion for a long time. This will be a very intriguing match up stylistically, as both fighters have fantastic wrestling skills which, as history would show, usually ends up in a standup battle.

In most cases two wrestlers in a striking battle would not be that entertaining but in this match up, both fighters have shown the ability to strike with the best. Usman with vicious power and Covington with a relentless pace.

It will be interesting to see which style prevails.
